Ms.Enam Akoetey

Africa Clean Energy Buyers (ACEBuyers) is founded by Enam Akoetey (formerly Enam
Akoetey-Eyiah) to act as a bridge to bring stakeholders together and a windmill to channel
our collective power to drive innovation, market development and accelerated action in
energy markets across Africa.
Enam brings over two decades pioneering work in the climate and carbon asset project
development, international development, education, renewable energy market development
and policy and regulatory innovation in Africa and globally.
She’s a member of the Methodological Expert Panel for the Article 6.4 mechanism of the
Paris Agreement and member of the Technical Working Group for the Greenhouse Gas
Protocol Scope 2 revision.
Prior to founding ACEBuyers, she founded reNewClimate in 2006, a pioneer carbon asset
developer that created and sold forestry carbon in 2007 on the voluntary market.
reNewClimate continues to develop projects in biochar and clean mobility and is advisers’
corporates on their climate, sustainability and clean energy journey.
She developed the I-REC market in Africa and spoke authoritatively at many regional and
international conferences on the energy paradox and opportunities and is a passionate
advocate for 1. Recognition of Africa’s power pools as single EAC markets. 2. Displacing
diesel/petrol gensets with renewables by leveraging tracking instruments 3. Accurate
measurement of Africa’s true energy demand 4. Accurate measurement, accounting and
reporting of emissions from diesel/petrol generator fleet by global organisations to bring
awareness and drive action to finance the compelling energy demand.
She has advised and led corporates on measure, report and account for corporate greenhouse
gas and net-zero strategy globally.
Enam owns a forest in Ghana – and supports community reforestation and afforestation
initiatives by donating nursery inputs and seeds.
Enam has multidisciplinary educational background: BSc Marketing, MSc Development
Studies, MBA Leadership and LLM Energy and Environment candidate at University of
Birmingham. She has professional qualifications in teaching, GHG accounting and reporting
and PRINCE2.
She’s a chair of governors at a high-achieving school in Newham, England. Enam is a
traditional leader, known as Nana Efua Adadzewa I, Safohen to the Paramount Chief of the
Ekumfi traditional area. Proud mother of vibrant and vivacious three.
